If you are looking for a solution to preventing unauthorised vehicles from accessing your premises but gates and barriers are not practical, or possible for your location then rising bollards could be a suitable option for your premises.
For example in situations when the control of pedestrian footfall is not needed but where vehicles may require access at specific times, or where the appearance of a property needs to be maintained (such as historic sites), or in cases where large volume of traffic need access for certain events other barriers may create unnecessary delay in entering and exiting the premises.
Rising bollards are an unobtrusive and attractive option in these situations, disappearing into the ground and lying flush with the road’s surface. They are easy to control and come with safety mechanisms installed to prevent vehicles being damaged or people being harmed.
There are a number of different types of device that can be used to operate rising bollards such as remote controls. For domestic properties this is an excellent way to remotely activate the bollards. However if your system needs to be accessible by a number of different users then this may not be the best option for you.
If you would prefer that your staff or family did not carry remote controls, proximity tags or key fobs with them than a keypad may be the best option. This will lower the bollards after a code is entered, the bollards will then rise again once your vehicle has safely passed over.
Rising bollards can be installed to trigger using automatic number plate recognition, if you prefer. This is an efficient and impressive style of operation, meaning that the individuals you choose to grant access to don’t need to remember a code or bring a tag with them to gain entry.
Release keys can be used in the event of a power failure to lower the posts. This means you can rest assured that in the event that someone needs to enter or exist your property un an emergency, they can do so even when there is a power outage.
These machines operate much like the ticket terminals. Anyone who wishes to access your site has to pay before the bollards can be lowered and grant them access to your property.
As rising bollards can be powered by mains or by battery they can be installed at a wide range of premises, without the need to have power cables extended across property in order for the bollards to work.
Hydraulic mechanisms would most suitable in situations where the bollards are likely to undergo heavy duty use. If the bollards are not needed as often, or if you wish to have variable speeds of operation then electric bollards may be the better option as they allow for operation settings such as rising slowly and lowering quickly, or visa versa.
Commonly used for motorway tolls and car parking –devices can be installed which issue tickets to users, lowering the bollards to allow entry once the ticket has been taken and preventing visitors from exiting until the ticket has been paid for at the other end. If you need to ensure that paid parking is protected, this may be the option for you.
Proximity tags can be given out to authorised personnel to allow them access to your site. These are useful for properties that may have visitors coming often as the tags can be distributed and reused as per your requirements.
